Navigating the complexities and understanding financial
aid options is critical to ensuring our student families
thrive while at UC Santa Cruz.

Cal Grants (A and B)

The State Cal Grants (A and B) are awarded by the California Student Aid Commission to California residents who meet eligibility requirements, and who demonstrate financial need and academic achievement. Students can be awarded for up to a maximum of 4 years, with the maximum award amount equivalent to tuition and fees.

For Cal Grant eligible students who have dependent children under the age of 18, an additional award of up to $6,000 per year is available to provide supplementary support.

Childcare Reimbursement

Graduate students who are either a Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) or Teaching Assistant (TA) (aka Academic Student Employee) can receive up to $1,100 per quarter. Read more about the Childcare Reimbursement program.

Services for Transfer And Re-entry Students (STARS) offers several undergraduate scholarships for students who are parents. To receive more information about the STARS program, please contact starsprograms@ucsc.edu. 

Cash Assistance

Santa Cruz County service who may provide temporary cash aid for families. For information on CalWORKs.
